There were also a few problems with the Linux support. Version 0.4.5.1 fixes these bugs.

It’s also important to mention, that most of the tutorials are being translated into English. Have a look at the “Tutorials” section of the website to have a look at the current progress. Remember that you’re always welcome to translate the tutorials into other languages.

Andorra 2D features a very simple API for programming hardware accelerated 2D games and applications using Delphi or FreePascal/Lazarus. Andorra 2D is able to handle multiple graphic system via an extendable plugin system. This allows you to use the engine with DirectX or OpenGL. The slogan of Andorra 2D is: “Be simple yet mighty”.
Version 0.4.5 mainly is a bug-fix release, although a few new features were added. Source code that worked with version 0.4 should work without any/minor changes.
Version 0.4 had problems with older hardware in the OpenGL mode – this bug should be fixed now. Many users complained that a few pixels of their textures were distorted when using DirectX. With most graphics boards this bug should be history too. And these are only the most conspicuous bugs that have been fixed – have a look at the changelog to get an overview over all changes.
Andorra 2D 0.4.5 adds support for the new Delphi 2009.
The video module of Andorra 2D has also been improved. Using the new FFMpeg-Wrapper library Acinerella (http://acinerella.sf.net/), you’re able to build your own video player with Andorra 2D in under 200 lines of code. Connecting an external audio library (Andorra 2D doesn’t have audio support and will never have) to the video module is also very simple now.
The documentation of Andorra 2D was undergoing vast improvements too. Although there are still a few classes and constants undocumented, the documentation has been improved and expanded.
Andorra 2D features a very simple API for programming hardware accelerated 2D games and applications using Delphi or FreePascal/Lazarus. Andorra 2D is able to handle multiple graphic system via plugins. This allows you to use the engine with DirectX or OpenGL. By using modern 3D-Hardware, the graphical content is displayed with a very high frame rate.

Version 0.4 added a bunch of new features, further improvements and bug-fixes to Andorra 2D. The new surface system allows you to render your scene to off-screen surfaces. Every surface contains a revolutionary new scene object that allows you to apply your scene settings in a very simple way.

By applying shader effects written in the Cg or the HLSL language to image objects (and surfaces), you are able to do amazing post-processing effects.

The particle system had also been rewritten. Using multiple threads, the new system takes advantage of multi core processors. The particle system is much more flexible now and up to five times faster.

Another important aspect is the improved Lazarus and Linux support. Most differences between using Andorra 2D with Delphi and Lazarus are now history.

Andorra 2D is the next generation 2D engine for Delphi and Free Pascal. Andorra 2D uses modern graphic boards to render high quality graphics with a high frame rate.

With this version, Andorra 2D runs officially with Lazarus under Windows and Linux and probably also under MacOS. This goal had been reached by adding so called "Window-Frameworks" to Andorra 2D. They build another abstraction layer and are necessary to create get your Andorra 2D applications running with a lot of different window systems - You do not have to worry about it. Andorra 2D selects the best window framework, that works hand in hand with the graphic plugin you have chosen.

Of course there there are a lot of bug fixes in this version. Now you are also able to draw any polygon with the surface canvas.
Andorra 2D got a new API for the playback of video textures. A simple MPEG2-Video decoder which uses libmpeg2 is included.

With this version, Andorra 2D made a big step.
What are you waiting for? Obtain the new version of Andorra 2D here:
https://sourceforge.net/project/platformdownload.php?group_id=182128&sel_platform=718

Andorra 2D 0.3 STABLE released

Andorra 2D is the next generation 2D engine for Delphi and Free Pascal. Andorra 2D uses modern graphic boards to render high quality graphics with a high frame rate.

I am proud to announce the release of Andorra 0.3 STABLE.
Andorra 2D features a full featured and fast hardware accelerated canvas surface, which was rewritten for this version. It is now even faster and permits to store canvas items in display lists and transform them in 3D space.
Textures may be loaded from any file format using the restructured compressor and image format classes. You are also able to store textures in every graphic container you can imagine - and if the support for your container does not exists, simply write one yourself - it's that easy.
Andorra 2D also supports different bitmap font generator classes now. With version 0.3 it is also possible to replace the standard type setter of Andorra 2D.

You can get your copy of Andorra 2D here:
https://sourceforge.net/project/platformdownload.php?group_id=182128&sel_platform=718

The next step of the development of Andorra 2D is to create linux and full Free Pascal support. This will be done using window framework classes.
