For example:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;mged&amp;gt; g things item1 item2 item1&lt;br /&gt;
mged&amp;gt; ls things&lt;br /&gt;
u item1&lt;br /&gt;
u item2&lt;br /&gt;
u item1&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It would be nice to have an mged command that "fixes" these by creating an intermediate combination to "name" the instances.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;mged&amp;gt; doit thing&lt;br /&gt;
mged&amp;gt; ls thing&lt;br /&gt;
u thing_item1_ref1&lt;br /&gt;
u item2&lt;br /&gt;
u thing_item1_ref2&lt;/p&gt;
