I'm someone that regularly Googles "Celestia for Android" in the hopes that someone has started work on porting it.

It might be a bit hard to navigate from a phone but it would be excellent on a tablet even though most schools around me went the iPad route!

So ... any one know of any one that is actively working on this?

It may not the evidence from the discourse here, but there is pretty broad support or Celestia to be made available on the Android smartphone as I am sure there is for other models. Could a new branch in the code be created this operating operating system question?

Duration of the Goto function

I could see in the Demo script that it is possible to alter the duration of the Goto function in order to travel slower than the usual 5-second span. According to all documentation that I found, this is not possible outside scripts, so you always have the default travel duration and can never alter it. I'd like to be able to adjust the travelling speed for the G key, either in the general program preferences, or in the Goto UI dialog (s. attachment).

Change travelling speed in steps

It would be cool if I could increase and decrease the spaceship travelling speed in steps of 2 or 10, just like it is possible with the keys K and L. And also, similar to the key J that inverts the flow of time, it would be cool to be able to invert the travelling speed and thereby be fly backwards.

More 3Dish visualization of orbits

For a better spatial reception of the orbits, it would be nice to visualize the nearer part a litter thicker than the more distant part of the orbit line. Furthermore, it would be very cool if I could switch the orbits to transparent discs instead of lines and to be able to see points of intersection of this disc with other orbits. This would help get a better idea where the comets cross into the planet orbits. In a 2D rendition on the screen, it's currently hard to see.

LocalEcliptic for Stars

Please implement a LocalEcliptic directive (with appropriate arguments) for use in STC files. It would define the reference ecliptic for the the SSC declarations for the Star's planets. This would greatly reduce the amount of work needed to define planetary systems which are not aligned with the Earth's ecliptic. It also would make PrecessingRotation usable in planetary systems other than our own.
