We are now finally closing down our sourceforge bug, patch and feature request trackers.

We have migrated our bug and FR tracking to http://crawl.develz.org/mantis/ - please sign up there to contribute! In addition to the Mantis tracker, we also are using a wiki.

Mailing list and git repository are still located on SourceForge.

Well, I really should have announced this ages ago (the blog became lively in November, though it started earlier) but I had some trouble finding the News section on SourceForge :p and never got around to announcing it. Anyway, Dungeon Crawl Stonesoup proudly presents a weblog (http://crawl.develz.org/wordpress/) featuring posts announcing the latest development state as well as some more in-depth articles discussing various implementation details and new gameplay effects.

In other news, most of the bug and feature requests are now being handled on an external site (http://crawl.develz.org/mantis/view_all_bug_page.php) and we're in the process of migrating all open tracker items on the SourceForge site over there. Though this will still take awhile, we'd prefer it if you posted new bugs and feature requests over there. Thank you!

To reduce the amount of items in the new bug tracker system, all brainstorming or collection of ideas now takes place in a wiki (http://crawl.develz.org/wiki/doku.php), which is much easier for players and developers alike.

players already replied and it would be nice to have input from other

Yes, we've released Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup 0.5.1 (download from https://sourceforge.net/projects/crawl-ref/files\), and yes, the annual August tournament is taking place again! For more information, see http://crawl.akrasiac.org/tourney09/.

0.5.1 fixes a number of bugs, and we've also taken several steps to
improve the Tiles performance for at least some players. If the game
still lags for you, please check out the in-game FAQ ('?q') and/or
read docs/tiles_help.txt.

Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup 0.4.4 is out!

Finally, after months of waiting, the bug fixes already long patched into CAO and CDO have made it into an official version that you can now find in the Download section.

Some important bugs have been fixed, as were a number of less important ones, and there are also a few other small tweaks. For the list of changes click here: https://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=648461&group_id=143991.

If you want the big stuff (new levels, new monsters, and other cool new features) you'll have to wait for 0.5 - or you can download the beta version from http://crawl.develz.org/trunk/ or play it online, also on CDO. Either way, have fun playing!

How YOU can help improve Dungeon Crawl StoneSoup!

Maybe you've been wondering whether you can help improve the game. (Or maybe not.)

Either way, you certainly can. :)

The files README.txt and README.pdf distributed with the binaries contain a "How you can help" section listing, in summary:

* playtesting and feedback

(Note that you can get the trunk version from http://crawl.develz.org/trunk/ and also play it online.)

* vault/map creation
* monster speech
* monster/item/spell/... descriptions
* tiles
* patches

... all of which are immensely helpful and of which there will hardly ever be too many.

If you know how to code or would like to create some tiles, you can search Crawl's Feature Requests with Group set to "Patches Welcome" (or the summary keyword "\o/"). This will turn up a few tracker items we'd really like to see in the game at some point but that don't have enough priority to take up the valuable time needed for other stuff.

If you have a patch you can submit it in the Patches sections or, as for vault designs, tiles, and all the other stuff, you can contact us via the mailing list (http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/crawl-ref-discuss).
