http://director.sourceforge.net
Other miscellaneous changes.

About

Director is a general purpose desktop tool. It allows you to customise
your desktop by creating menus of useful commands and icons to attach
the menus to. Any number of menus or icons can be created and attached
in any order to each other.

Director also allows an alternative and faster view onto files in the
form of directory menus and allows these menus to be attached to other
menus also.

Director has some other useful features such as remembering the most
recently used files, the ability to add key strokes into the keyboard
buffer and the ability to produce directory menus over drive icons.

Director is fully customisable by the user, and can do many or all of
the functions of Pinboard+, TreeMenu (AKA DirMenu), Filer-, QuickDir,
DeskUtils, Memorizer, Menon and some of the functions of Filer+.

Yours,

Phil L.

This is to announce the stable release of version 1.12 of AssLib.

As before there are two archive available for download. One contains the main AssLib library required for the compilation of Director. The other also contains the source code for the supplied utilities and CVS information.

Both archives can be downloaded from:
http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/director/

Since the last stable release of AssLib, the following changes have been made:

Fixed bug in submake which made it try to run make files which didn't exist.

About

AssLib is library of assembler macros and command line utilities.
Primarily it is used in the compilation of the desktop utility Director.

AssLib has it's own homepage at http://director.sourceforge.net/asslib/

Yours,

Phil L.

The future of Director

Many of you will know of Director by Nick Craig-Wood. From it's
first release in 1994 through to the present day it has found it's
way into the hearts of many RISC OS users.

However, in recent years development of Director has crawled to
a standstill due to lack of time and other commitments.

Therefore I would like to announce a change in the way Director
is to be maintained.

Firstly, Nick has kindly let me take over development of Director.
He also said that any future versions of Director should be
licensed under the General Public License (GPL).

Nick has requested that any future development of Director
should be a collaborative piece of work. Therefore at his
suggestion I have setup a project on SourceForge
(www.sourceforge.net) to continue development of
Director.

Currently I would say that the version available from
SourceForge should be considered as a pre beta of version
0.27. That is not because it is full of bugs, it's just that it has not
been thoroughly tested. I do plan to release a beta of 0.27
shortly, with a full release after that.
