I only feel it's a bit too keen on removing continents from other players. Continents are important, but suiciding 20 armies to remove a bonus of 2 armies from one of the enemies is not always a wise choice, especially with Italian rules.

Cannot start network play with more than 2 players

p2p mode is quite fragile, thats why there is online play that uses the main server

the problem you are having is probably caused by someone clicking something in the new game UI after joining the server, but before everyone has connected.

if someone clicks anything in the UI, this signals that no one else can join the game after this point as the state of the game has now changed.

make sure no one clicks anything at all, until everyone is connected to the server

Feedback features and more

*Push

How do I install this thing

make sure you have java installed and then run:

I was going to make the game automatically resize the map to a smaller size if it can not be loaded and try again, but thats a feature that has not made it to the top of the priority stack.
(for $10 a month you can sponsor this feature: https://www.patreon.com/bePatron?c=1742926 )

you can try resizing the map down a bit yourself, it may still look ok at 50% resolution, and seeing if that fixes the issue for your friends
just make sure you dont end up with the islands problem again, as that wastes way more memory then any other problem you can have.

Playing custom maps with friends

Thank you, very prompt and helpful!
The new map works for me and the creation of new games now is much much quicker.
nonetheless, my friends still receive the same error message, i attach the text here.
Should i submit the map again to have it published, so that i could bypass the "private sharing" problem?
(sorry for starting this discussion in an existing thread, hope not annoying anyone)

Playing custom maps with friends

hi,
yes there was a subtle error with your map
there were lots and lots of teeny tiny pixels that were the wrong color all over your 'image map'
they were probably too small for you to spot, but the game could not understand where each country was because of them.

an easy way to test for this is when you have finished making your map:
1) save the map
2) click "Play Map" from the map editor
3) click "Start Game" in the new game screen
4) open the "Testing" tab in the UI
5) click on "All Cards" from the toolbar
6) now scroll through all the cards and make sure each country looks correct

if in the last step you see that countries look wrong, too small, squashed to the code, etc, it means you have some pixels that are the wrong color

fixing this is easy, in the map editor click on the "del islands" button, and wait for a while as it processes the whole map, now it will show you a dialog of islands is has found, if a country does not have any islands (parts that are not connected to the main country) then it should not appear in the list. if it does, tick the chackbox on the right to remove those islands, click ok and save the map, then test it again using the steps above.

i have done this for your map and ive attached a new version here.

Playing custom maps with friends

Hi everyone, i have a related question: i created a map with map editor and shared the four files generated (xxx.gif /xxx .jpg / xxx.cards/ xxx.map) to a group of friends in order to test the map before submit. Only one in five persons could play the map on his computer, the others got error message and crash. File maps are available in my google drive. Any suggestion?
Lastly, I decided to submit the map anyway (Lecco Como), if you could please publish it when it's possible. Thank you!

Playing custom maps with friends

Thank you!
