We recommend that projects upgrade to a more modern SCM, like Subversion, rather than using CVS. CVS has limitations which newer SCM solutions have been designed to overcome.

It would be nice to switch from CVS to a modern SCM system. It's possible to use Subversion, Git or Mercurial on Sourceforge. Btw, Sourceforge dropped CVS support for new projects. There is no active development on CVS and a lot of features are missing. From my point of view CVS is a real pain, because there is no working proxy support on Windows (I'm sitting behind a proxy). I don't care about the location of the source code (GitHub or Sourceforge) but please change to a modern system!
