I found the solution, php limits the number of variables passed with a POST to 1000. This equates to 166 seats in this case.
To correct this limit open the php.ini file and change the value of MAX_INPUT_VARS from 1000. To calculate the value multiply the number of seats by six.
For example 300 seats x 6 = 1800

Did you ever resolve the insert issue with the seats?
I just did an install and am having the same problem.
Its on a virtual local ubuntu environment so I have all the access I need.

I thought about inserting the seats manually, but would like to know why this is happening.

please let me know as this might be what I am looking for to help my daughter at a none profit theater in SC, USA.

Hi, I have a weird problem. Seat maps used to work just fine untill today. I tried building everything from scratch but same thing happens, even in completely new database with the standard working environment from another website. In the table "seats", when saving a seat map, it only adds the first 166 entries and all the rest gets lost. Does anyone have a suggestion why he doesn't include the other seats in the query - I exported to log.txt and added it as attachment ? I shoudl get this online very soon now and could try adding entries by hand in the db but that can't be the solution in the end, I guess.

Hi Tony,

You are right, database access is not at all done in an efficient way and should be optimised. However as you can tell (given the time it took me to answer this single support request....), family life and work make it impossible for me to devote more time for FreeSeat (or any personal project, really).

Maybe when the kids are older :)

Optimizing queries for locked and reserved seats

Hey, it's been a long time since any updates, but wanted to ask this anyway.

Do you think it would be possible to run MySQL queries for seat locks and reservations more efficiently?
For example, take the theater id and do a ranged query of bookings and seatlocks of all the seatnumbers in that theater instead of doing a query for each seat?

Thanks for your report. This is a bug in the showedit plugin. Line 191 of plugins/showedit/index.php reads
$q = "INSERT into shows (spectacle, theatre, date, time) values ($spec, $th, $d, $t)";

but it should instead be
$q = "INSERT into shows (spectacle, theatre, date, time, disabled) values ($spec, $th, $d, $t, 0)";

You can make that change directly in the file, I'll do a release as soon as I can.

Hi,

About cron, you must pass the freeseat "system password" as parameter to cron.php. That means, at the place where you setup your installation to run cron.php every night, add the freeseat system password between quotes after a space. If you are using standard unix cron you should have a line like this in your crontab (correct the paths of the php program, of the freeseat install, and the freeseat system password as appropriate for you)

1 2 * * * sudo -u www-data /usr/bin/php /var/www/freeseat/cron.php "secret"

The message about a missing parameter means the "secret" bit at the end is missing. Note that the freeseat system password is typically different from the admin password, and both are typically different from the user password. If you enabled credit card payment, the system password should be present next to "$systempass" in the config.php file (but you must still pass it to cron.php)

(Normally the "cron" page in the setup wizard should have told you that).

About pdf, I need to re-check the code, but from your message it seems you found a solution, right? Copy the dompdf directory into the root directory?

About emails, is it working now? If not, do you have anything in the server logs? Do you have anything on screen? Have you tried the lost tickets feature? (It's the "remail" plugin) Does that one manage to send emails?
