Theater200: Reuse WDM minidriver for KM

Hi GATOS-Team,

just an alternative idea how the Theater200 support
could be implemented in KM:

Would it be possible to reuse the existing ATI WDM-
minidrivers to realize the full Theater200 support
(including VBI) for KM?

I'm not very familiar with the Windoze WDM model, but
according to the DDK documentation, the minidrivers
provide implementations to the standarized DirectShow
stream-interfaces.

If the minidrivers are more or less encapsulated (no
recalls of other direct show functions) it could be a
good idea to use this code directly.

The ATI specific properties for the stream interfaces
could be found here:

Tarball of DRM-Kernel

it would be very helpful if someone could release a
tarball of the DRM-Kernel, its rather hard to get the
CVS version when cvs just comes up with the error
"can't create temporary directory /tmp/cvs-serv29637
No space left on device" and considering I have 15 gigs
of free space i know this isn't true, and also it does
the same thing as root, so it would be rather helpful
if someone could put a copy in the SF download

AIW RAGE II+DVD

I have a ATI card with a Rage II+DVD chipset and S-Video In, Coaxle
In, RCA In, S-video Out, and RCA Out. And I want to get the
TV-Out feature to work.

I have tried the atitvout by doesn't work. Maybe its me but I would
know because of little documentation & developement.

By first using the MS windows utility to turn TV-Out on, and it stays
on even after you shut the pc off. Then editing the X config file. But I
am not even close to knowing what I'm doing editing it. I been able to
get it to work but the video is offset and wrapped verticall and
horizontally. But I believe if I knew more about the X config file and
what all the refresh, sync, etc... settings need to be I'd might be able
to get the picture just right.

I'd love some more technical info with a little bit holding my hand in it.

AIW 9700 Pro

I understand that you are still working on implementing
the All-in-wonder 9700 pro's support into the driver. I
noticed that you have support for a number of R300
chipsets, but the chip_id for the AIW 9700 Pro is not
defined (0x4e44 i think). Is there any way ot seeing an
updated 4.2.x driver w/ that value any time soon?

I don't neccessarily need the XvImage support right
away as I have a TV Wonder, which brings me to my
next request: bttv support for avview. I'd love to be able
to use my TV Wonder under AVview -- xawtv is a little
too fragile it seems.

switch b/w X and console freeze system

Using r128.o, enable 3D by loading the "dri" modules.
Switch from X (graphic) mode to console (text mode),
then switch back to X (graphic) mode again will freeze
the display.

Mouse can still be moved, but no respon to click.
Keyboard is dead (can't use ctrl-alt-f[x]) to switch
back to console.

By remotely login to the machine and kill X still does not
restore the display. Only reboot will solve this.

Need help cannot get it to work with ...

I cannot get the AVview to work with an ATI
ALL-IN-WONDER 8500DV. The screen is black. I get no
errors and do not know what to do next. I really want
this to work so I can get rid of Microsoft in my house
and this is the piece that I really need.

I would be willing to pay for some support .. if I
could only watch a TV or DVD from RedHat Linux 8.0. My
email is breitscott@yahoo.com, my phone is in the US
(301) 596-2550. Again, I really want this to work, and
I am willing to do anything on my part.

Would it be possible to get some more complete
documentation? The brief little ATI.2 install guide
bounces back and forth between X 4.1 and 4.2, I don't
know if I need the DRM kernel or if I can just use the DRI
stuff, and worst of all, I just can't get it working with my
Radeon 8500 AIW. It seems as tho it would be a great
project, its just not working out for me, and I need a
better guide to follow - I know I am installing binaries,
but I don't see how to make & apply patch like on the
website.

KM doesn't compile under Conectiva

Hi,

I don't know if I am on the correct list for this kind
of matter, please let me know.

I tryied to compile km and other gatos related projects
under Conectiva Linux 7.0 which is much sumilar to Red
Hat 7.2.
I get errors related to missing header files like this:

#error Modules should never use kernel-headers system
headers
#error but headers from an appropriate kernel-source

I have both source and headers apropriate kernel rpms
installed and my -I/usr/src/linux/include has all the
files needed.

1) Should I just install another linux distribution?
2) What distribution has this project ever been compiled?
3) Am I missing any files on my system ?

Any help whould be appreciated !
