JCL 2.0 Build 3449 is released

The JCL team is proud to release the new version of this library. This
release supports Embarcadero RAD Studio 2010 and is released on the
related partner dvd.

This new release of the Jedi Code Library is available in the JCL pages

This release supports the following versions of Delphi and C++Builder:
- C#Builder 1 (cf Installation notes);
- Delphi 8.net (cf Installation notes).
- Delphi 6, Delphi 7 and Delphi 2005;
- C++Builder 6;
- Delphi 2005 (without unit versioning support);
- Borland Developer Studio 2006 (Delphi for Win32, C++Builder for
Win32, Delphi.net and C#Builder personalities);
- Turbo Delphi (explorer and professional - cf Installation notes);
- CodeGear RAD Studio 2007 (Delphi for Win32 and C++Builder for Win32
personalities);
- CodeGear Delphi 2009 and C++Builder 2009;
- CodeGear Delphi 2010 and C++Builder 2010.
- FreePascal (tested with 2.2.2 and 2.2.4).

Head changes for this release are:

- improved Unicode support for Delphi 2009, C++Builder 2009 and newer;
- new expert for displaying improved stack traces in the debugger,
these stack traces can be serialized to XML files;
- support for 32 bit FPC;
- support for 64 bit FPC (experimental);
- support for Delphi 2005 is back;
- removal of support for Delphi 5, C++Builder 5, Delphi.net and Kylix;
- added 7-zip 9.4.0 archive formats in JclCompression (.xz, .lzma86,
ntfs, fat...);
- simple log: new option to release the log files between two accesses;
- PCRE (http://www.pcre.org/) precompiled object files updated to PCRE
7.9;
- exception dialog: the log can be saved to any arbitrary location;
- exception dialog: new option to disable integrated exception tracking
when a debugger is attached;
- exception dialog: new option to select which thread to report to log;

JCL 1.103 preview for Delphi 2009 and C++Builder 2009

The JCL team is proud to give a preview of the library that supports CodeGear's new products Delphi 2009 and C++Builder 2009 with native Unicode support (codename was Tiburon).

This preview should not be considered as stable software, it introduces breaking changes to previously released JCL 1.102.

Users who need a version of the JCL for Delphi 2009 and C++Builder 2009 may use this preview because JCL 1.102 is not compatible with these new products.

Version 1.101 of the Jedi Code Library was released few days ago; we
now have some months to look after future version of the library.

(please follow up to news://forums.talkto.net/jedi.jcl )

I would like to bring the JCL to a new level of development (let say
2.0). This step would allow breaking changes such as the removal of old
version(s) of the compiler and the removal (or major update) of outdated
parts of the library. By ceasing support for old version of
Delphi/C++Builder, team members could focus on writing new code rather
than wasting their time on checking compatibility.

Feedback from the community of users is welcome. It will help
development team to have a better understanding of users' needs and
expectations. Please take some time to fill this survey:

IMO, 5 to 8 supported products would be efficient. Users of deprecated
ones could still use JCL 1.101.

Obsolete code in the library (aka marked with KEEP_DEPRECATED compiler
directives) could be removed. Support for Windows 95/98 could be dropped
too.

Several libraries (part of Project Jedi or standalone) rely on the Jedi
Code Library, this project would affect the list of IDE versions they
support too. The feedback about these changes is welcome too.

JCL 1.101 Build 2725 is released

- New function to initialize TFont object from standard system fonts

- New functions to move and copy directories in JclFileUtils.pas.
- Conversion functions between SID and string are added to
JclSysInfo.pas.
- Expression evaluation now supports operators (and, or, xor, not...).
- new stream classes: TJclSectoredStream to handle data in a sectored
storage, TJclCRC16Stream and TJclCRC32Stream to protect a sectored
stream using checksums.
- new functions to easily handle command line parameters
(JclFileUtils.pas)

This releases support C++Builder 2007 for Win32 and is based on the content of the source repository at Sourceforge (revision 2015 - packaged on May. the 31th).

Head changes for this release are:
- JclCompression is updated: routines to compress files in a single
line,
support for bzip2 file format (compression and decompression).
- JclDebug is updated to automatically produce stack traces of threads.
- Manifests are added for Vista compatibility, the installer is now
Vista-friendly and ask for an elevation to register help files.
- PCRE captures and named captures are now writtable.
New routine (StrReplaceRegEx) to invoke replacements based on regular
expression in a single line.
- Exception dialog now uses AppEvnts to register to
Application.OnException

This releases support Delphi 2007 for Win32 and is based on the content of the source repository at Sourceforge (revision 1947 - packaged on Feb. the 2nd).

Head changes for this release are:
- JclPeImage is significantly updated: it now supports 64-bit
applications and libraries.
- JclDebug is significantly updated: .jdbg files contain informations
about all segments of code. A new option was added to limit exception
handling to application main thread.
- PCRE (http://www.pcre.org/) updated to version 7.0. PCRE code can be
included in the application not requiring "pcre.dll" anymore
(experimental - read the comments at the beginning of
source\common\pcre.pas for details and modifications to enable this
feature).
- JclMail : different file names can be specified for attachements
- Collection of stream classes to make basic operations easier (getting
random data, multiplexing several streams, buffering an other stream,
being notified on changes, reading common data types, scoping a
stream, delegating read/write/seek operations.

JCL 1.98 Build 2530 is released

This new build for JCL 1.98 fixes major issues in JclUnicode and JclLogic that were introduced in JCL 1.98 Build 2509. Users are invited to use JCL 1.98 Build 2530 rather than the older build.
This new build will work /out of the box/ for users who don't want to use the installer (note: these users will have to make a manual installation of the JVCL too).

The head changes for this release are:
- Integration of the JCL help into the help system of Delphi 2005, BDS 2006 and Turbo Delphi.
- Collection of stream classes to make basic operations easier (getting
random data, multiplexing several streams, buffering an other stream,
being notifyed on changes, reading common data types, scoping a
stream, delegating read/write/seek operations.
