General information, including how to add a dependency on JUNG 2.1 using Maven:

First, new development on JUNG will be taking place on GitHub from now on. JUNG has been hosted on SourceForge since we created it in 2003, and both have gone through a lot of changes. Ultimately, we believe that GitHub will provide a simpler and more robust solution for hosting JUNG in future.

To get your questions answered about how to use JUNG, we currently recommend checking out StackOverflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/jung

Second, JUNG 2.0.x has been using the Larvalabs generics port of the Apache commons-collections libraries, but that port hasn't been updated in years. JUNG 2.1 replaces that dependency with Guava (Google's mostly-collections-based open-source Java library). Guava is in active development and during my time at Google I've been very impressed with the effort that they're putting into making it both efficient and a well-run project, so I have no hesitations about taking a dependency on it.

JUNG 2.1 will be released any day now; if you want to get an early look, the code is already checked in on GitHub (https://github.com/jrtom/jung), a 2.1 snapshot version is already available (https://oss.sonatype.org/#nexus-search;quick~net.sf.jung) or you can clone the GitHub repository directly.

We've got further changes in store for JUNG; please keep an eye on the new JUNG site hosted on GitHub.

On behalf of all the people that have contributed to JUNG over the years, thanks for your interest, and we hope that JUNG will continue to be increasingly useful for working with graphs/networks in Java.
