A new version of OpenSong is available as a beta release. In addition to numerous bugfixes since the general V2.x release and the V3.0 release specific to macOS.
Highlights of this release include:
- NDI Support. The OpenSong presentation screen is available as an NDI source for other programs.
- Slide Text as a separate file. Developed primarily for integration with vMix to use as a source for automatic lower-third generation, OpenSong will write the text of the slide to an XML file in a user-specified location.
- Apple Silicon support. A separate DMG download is available in the Files area for Apple Silicon. OpenSong is released this way because NDI support is not yet available, so this version will not have the NDI output. Users of newer Macs equipped with the Apple M1 chip should use the Intel version if NDI is required. The default download for all Macs is the Intel version.
- Linux 64-bit application. For Linux on Intel, OpenSong is now a 64-bit application, making installation easier and better integrating with the latest Linux releases. OpenSong has been tested with Ubuntu 20.04 and Linux Mint 20.
- Initial release for Raspberry Pi. OpenSong is also available as a 32-bit Raspberry Pi application for the Raspberry Pi (Raspbian) OS. A Raspberry Pi 4 with at least 2 GB memory is recommended. We suggest avoiding using the "border" attribute of a display font, as performance on the Raspberry Pi is poor. Solutions are under investigation.
