What I am proposing is essentially a system to utilize and extend the existing metadata framework by using hashtags and at the same time leverage this information to allow users to instantly generate custom m3u playlists based on any combination of categories imaginable.

I.e create a play list of rock songs from the 90,s that both me and my wife like and omit tracks that are really corny and/or contain swear words... one click and a play list is generated. (once these categories are defined and the relevant files assigned) I.e the current system of meta-data contains some information but this is incomplete and can not be readily leveraged. But the functionality I am proposing would allow the user to specify what current information is useful and register it as a category that could be cross referenced and leveraged. And also to add additional categories not supported by the current spec and register these also.

Categories would be created inside the app (which could be anything) and these would be registered and maintained inside the metadata of the files themselves using hashtags stored in a specified location/field.

This way users could quickly create a play list in a couple of clicks simply by using different categories to include or exclude and/or pick specific files which shared various categories etc... and they could generate a play list based on any combination of categories and generate a play list instantly.
