MPV is an awesome alternative to mplayer2, in fact it is a fork of mplayer2. Would you be interested in making mpv as a backend for video playback in qmmp?

MPlayer2 is deprecated and hasn't seen development for years. MPV is actively developed and has added a TON of awesome features. I think MPV would be a fantastic replacement for use in qmmp.

Thoughts?

It doesn't seem trivial. From what I can see, the current plugin interacts with mplayer using the slave mode, which doesn't exist anymore in mpv.
It would have to be rewritten to use libmpv instead.

  Oh, well that is unfortunate. Maybe the developer will consider it anyway but that does sound like a bit of work. :(
