Apparently it is currently defined as a polyhedron. There is some code which Wout has written ('tg32vtk') which may provide a starting point.

Ability to place image into viewport

It would be useful to be able to render an image (e.g. a cross-section taken using microscopy) in the viewport with the textile model. User control over positioning would be required.

Modified RenderWindowInteractor

The current camera manipulation used for rendering (RenderWindowInteractor, defined in CustomInteractorStyle.cpp) works in a way similar to the vtkInteractorStyleTerrain, which was used previously. This does not allow the textile to be inverted in the viewport, e.g. to see a perspective view with the lower side uppermost. It would be useful to allow the textile to be rotated freely in the viewport.
(Low priority request)

Quadratic elements

Quadratic elements for the mesh generation which would place mid-side nodes on the yarn boundaries where appropriate.

Repeat vector type assignment

It may be useful to store a flag with each yarn repeat vector which indicates whether it causes the yarn to repeat along its length or by placing a separate yarn body next to it. I.e. the flag would be set by testing whether the repeat vector was equal to the vector from the yarn start to the yarn end points.

This is sometimes necessary when recreating textile geometries in other packages.

This is a small addition, suggested to avoid code duplication.

Textile summary reporting tool

It might be useful to have a function which reports textile parameters such as mass per unit area, min/max/average cross-sectional area within each yarn and consequent Vf, nominal yarn dimensions (inc. length), domain dimensions etc. etc.

It needs a bit of thought to decide which items to incorporate. If we wanted to go for the 'luxury' option we might use some kind of template object or file to give the user control of which items are included.

Extensions to CFibreDistribution class

An extra constructor allowing a fibre distribution to be specified based on yarn linear density (tex) and fibre density would be useful. Although this is relatively trivial, implementation in TexGen would save code duplication and reduce the possibility of errors.

If, in the future, a function is added (not related to this feature request) to summarise textile properties then it needs to be considered whether the constructor information used (e.g. no. fibres or tex) should be retained for reporting in the summary.
