I am so proud on how it has spread!

To commemorate I have updated the website. The whole site is now XHTML 1.1 and CSS 2.0 valid. Also, it uses a RSS feed from SourceForge to enable this news system (integrated with Magpie, http://magpierss.sourceforge.net/\).

No real work has been done to ThumbView itself, but I’m juggling several ideas on where to take it from now. But I did create three C# samples on how to use ThumbView with a .NET application to generate thumbnails!

Thank you all for this past year and hope you’re enjoying ThumbView!

Donations goal reached for year 1!

For some time I've been asking for donations to buy a download.com account. Well, the sum has been collected!! I'll be creating a download.com ASAP!

The rest of the money, which isn't much, will be added to next year's fee, since download.com takes 79USD -per year-. Also, the "success" of the account will determine if I keep it for more years.

Any leftover money will go towards buying computer books to yours truly, which will motivate me to write more open source programs; but with quality code. *cough*

Thank you for your support to ThumbView!

It seems that each app must have at least 25 points to be accepted. And I think they rate from 0 to 3, or 0 to 5, heck it could even be 0 to 10 (although not likely). How DARE they complain about my documentation when they're worse? :P

Both emails start like this:
"Dear author,

Thank you for submitting your software for distribution on
www.tucows.com. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept your
program at this time.

As you are aware, each program is reviewed by our team and
assigned a cow rating. The following is the Review Report

Is it just me or did they copy paste that? Even though ThumbView regular actually does have a interface and Lite is a pure shell extension (thus doesn't even _have_ a interface).

Any tips on how to improve these ratings is greatily appreciated.

Cheers!

It's (still) alive!

Hello and welcome to ThumbView's first news post! These might not be very frequent because, well... this ain't a newspaper =P

First of I'm incredibly happy that donations have started dropping in! We're already halfway to get a download.com account so that ThumbView gets a bit more spotlight.

Second, ThumbView has been chosen to appear in the German computer magazine COMPUTERBILD. Which apperently is the largest computer magazine in Europe with its 4 million readers! *gasp*
Link: http://www.computerbild.de

Third, I have started work on ThumbView 1.1. The first part is to make unit tests and documentation as well as some internal changes to the code. Then I'll start working on the feature requests. My goals are to use two new libraries for image processing to get more file type support, Feature Request #1092485, #1070942 and #1068508 . As well as make a UberPack for ThumbView Lite which will include the best Thumbnail Extractors. The main reason is that I want to use Torbjrns Beermap for alpha enabled TGA, since I just love the checkered background for the transparency!

I'm also going to try to enhace Windows own image info columns in Explorer, Feature Request #1101713.

Finally I'm going to implement a "upper limit" for thumbnail generation, meaning ThumbView won't generate thumbnails for files larger than X kb where X is set by the user, as requested in #1168739

("What are all those #number's by the Feature Requests?" They match the number in the SourceForge Feature Request system, link: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=119383&atid=683839\)
