TurtolCMS is a web-based website builder, Content Management System and Web Application Platform which runs under Apache and mod_python. TurtolCMS's editing is done client-side on the web pages you're viewing, not in a separate admin interface.

The TurtolCMS is a powerful, flexible web content management system. The newest version, 0.6, is now available.

This is the first release since the breakup of Turtol, and the TurtolCMS is now under new management. Most of our changes are focused on making TurtolCMS a better platform for future development, so there are not many user-visible changes in this release. The entire pages/widgets subsystem has been reworked to be more granular and only load classes as needed. This should improve performance and memory footprint, and is definitely more flexible. We also merged much of William's IE-compatibility work, though we haven't done much testing on it yet. Lots of cruft is gone, but we'll add as much back in a possible in the near future :-D

The TurtolCMS is a powerful, flexible web content management system. The newest version, 0.5.22, is now available.

The installation and configuration of the TurtolCMS was improved in this release. Try installing this version if you had any issues with a previous version. Please see the README file in the source distribution for details.

Here is a summary of the New Features and Bug Fixes included in this new version:

New Features:
1. Google Site Search, Google Maps, and Google Analytics widgets can now be added and edited using the TurtolCMS editor.
2. We have taken the first step towards supporting use of the TurtolCMS editor in Internet Explorer. The main toolbar renders and basic editing functionality works in Internet Explorer 6. Although many issues still need to be addressed, we are hoping to provide full Internet Explorer support in the editor soon. We've tested in Safari 3 and Opera 9 as well, with mixed results. Firefox is still the recommended browser for using the TurtolCMS editor.
3. Link Widgets (both CSS and Script) now support adding references to system files built into the TurtolCMS such as the Prototype and Scriptaculous javascript libraries. References to files external to the TurtolCMS can also be created.

Bug Fixes:
1. CSS files that are uploaded to the TurtolCMS are now saved with a file type of "css" instead of "data."
2. Only CSS Links with a media attribute of default and screen will be applied in the Editor window. Those with types print and handheld will be ignored.
3. An issue related to spaces being incorrectly added to the Other Attributes field for DivWidgets was resolved.

This release includes upgrades of 2 javascript libraries used in the TurtolCMS.
1. Prototype was updated from version 1.5.0 to 1.6.0
2. Scriptaculous was updated from version 1.7.0 to 1.8.0

Here is a summary of the New Features and Bug Fixes included in this new version:

New Features:
1.The TurtolCMS now dynamically sets the height of Editor windows according to the height of the browser window. This should allow the TurtolCMS to work better with smaller monitors.

Bug Fixes:
1. New TurtolCMS users created in version 0.5.20 were unable to log out of the TurtolCMS. This has been resolved.

Here is a summary of the New Features and Bug Fixes included in this new version:

Bug Fixes:
1. A security issue was resolved which could have potentially allowed malicious code to run when logging in to the TurtolCMS.
2. Pages and widgets with blank data can now be saved.
3. Links that launch a window can no longer launch more than 1 window if clicked multiple times.
4. During an upload, editing functionality is suspended so that status on the completion of the file upload is always provided.
5. A forward slash is pre-pended to a file name being uploaded if the first character specified wasn't a forward slash.

1. Page URL's can be updated while editing a page or Link Widget, not just when adding a page or Link Widget.
2. HTML tables can be added and edited using the Editor without needing to use the Code view.
3. Uppercase characters in the extension of an uploaded file are converted to lower case.

Bug Fixes:
1. Templates that are referenced by other templates or pages can no longer be deleted.
2. If a Link Widget is added or edited to reference a page without a leading slash the slash is pre-pended automatically.

New Features

1. Theme Support: Themes, which provide a pre-set look and feel for your website can now be set when first setting up your TurtolCMS site or set/changed at anytime afterwards. Themes can be changed later from the main toolbar by selecting Map -> Roottemplate -> BasePageTemplate. You can also use the NoTheme option.

2. Div Widget Class and Style attributes: When adding or editing a Div widget, the Class and Style attributes are now broken out for ease of use. Any text added to either of these fields will be added to the div tag as an attribute. For example, setting the Style attribute to color:red will add style="color:red;" to the div tag. Any text added to the Other Attributes field will added to the div tag as is. This is available after clicking the Properties tab when editing a Div widget.

3. CssLink widget Media attribute: When adding or editing a CssLink widget, a Media drop down is available to set media attribute of the CssLink tag. For example, setting the Media drop down to print will add media="print" to the link tag for the css file. This is available after clicking the Properties tab when editing a CssLink widget.

4. CssLinks now passed to the TurtolCMS Editor: By default, CssLinks that are added will be passed to the Editor to provide a more "what you see is what you get" result in the Editor. This can be turned off for a specific css file when editing a CssLink by deselecting the "Apply in TurtolCMS Editor" check box on the Properties pane. Theme css is automatically passed to the Editor.

5. About Pane: Clicking the Turtol logo on the main toolbar now displays an About pane, which indicates the version of the TurtolCMS along with credits.
Bug Fixes

1. Resource files are handled more efficiently to improve performance
2. Contact Form allows a list of emails in the To Email field and provides a validation warning if the To Email field is left blank.
3. Validation warnings are displayed when trying to add a template or roottemplate with a name that already exists or when adding CssLink or ScriptLink widgets with data pages that already exist.
4. Upload iframe is only rendered in admin mode.

Newsletter preview functionality was added. This allows the current newsletter to be emailed to a specified email address. Both an HTML and text version of the newsletter is sent. The newsletter preview can be accessed by clicking the Edit button on the main toolbar while viewing a newsletter issue in Admin mode.
