Worked before upgrade to mountain lion

Tuxmath worked before i upgraded to mountain lion.
i have changed security setting to allow install of apps from anywhere.
when i launch the app doesn't show anything and waiting spins. i can see tuxmath menu but nothing else.
same happens with supertux.

I have installed tuxmath and required RPMs.
When I launch tuxmath:

malcolm:/root#tuxmath

at this point, the Tuxmath window opens and the green
line goes across the bottom of the window.
No sound is heard, and the window disappers.
The following messages are printed:

Error: I couldn't load a music file:
/usr/local/share/tuxmath/sounds/game.mod
The Simple DirectMedia error that occured was:
Unrecognized music format

I am running Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS3 on i386.
using the Gnome 2 desktop.
