Thank you for the feedback.

@fzxx
AI tools can certainly help investigate issues, explore ideas or write prototypes and tests. But in case of VeraCrypt, I still need to review and understand the code myself before anything is included. AI does not always speed things up in practice because of the review burden unless one blindly trusts hundreds of lines of generated code. This is not something I can do for a security-critical project like VeraCrypt.

@xiu-xiu-xiu
Argon2id support for UEFI system encryption is indeed an important feature but it is not something I consider low-risk enough for the next 1.26.x release.

The pre-boot environment is much more constrained than normal desktop runtime code. Argon2id is memory-hard by design, so we need to be very careful with UEFI firmware constraints. Any memory issue can make a system unbootable, so this needs dedicated design and broad testing. For this reason, it is planned for 1.27

@captain150, @marcos-morar
Argon2id support for Linux non-system volumes/containers is much more feasible. This is planned and I will work on it. Thank you also for confirming that you were able to build and test it on Arch with encrypted containers, this is useful feedback.

@aravaara
I confirm Enigma2Illusion’s answer.

I will provide updates, specially support of Argon2id on Linux and macOS.

VeraCrypt 1.26.x update: recent fixes and request for SourceForge priorities

Thank you.

VeraCrypt 1.26.x update: recent fixes and request for SourceForge priorities

Looking forward to Argon2id support in the Linux version of VeraCrypt.

VeraCrypt 1.26.x update: recent fixes and request for SourceForge priorities

The Mounir always includes the previous changes even if he releases a new beta, release candidate or product release version.

VeraCrypt 1.26.x update: recent fixes and request for SourceForge priorities

Thank you

I resumed active work on VeraCrypt this week and I have pushed several fixes and build improvements since then. Most of this recent work came from GitHub reports and pull requests, so I also want to make sure that important issues reported here on SourceForge are not missed before the next VeraCrypt 1.26.x release.

Recent changes include:

Windows: fixed a hibernation crash on fresh Windows 11 25H2 installations.

Windows: fixed a ghost drive letter remaining visible in Explorer after command-line dismount.

Windows: fixed MSI traveler disk creation with WHQL-signed drivers.

Windows: fixed ARM64 MSI build support.

Linux: added support for building against FUSE3.

Linux: fixed handling of nokernelcrypto during external formatting.

macOS: improved FUSE-T auxiliary mount handling.

macOS: fixed local ARM64 build issues affecting Volume.a.

Build system: handled removed wxWidgets configure options and fixed wxWidgets 3.3.2 build issues.

GUI: fixed the erroneous 2 TiB limit for hidden file containers in the volume creation wizard.

GUI: improved mouse entropy collection in Linux/macOS dialogs and wizard pages.

Setup: fixed an incorrect tooltip caused by a bad translation key.

Translations: updated the Romanian language file.

Documentation: fixed README documentation links.

The upcoming 1.26.x release is intended to focus on important fixes and low-risk improvements.

If you know of SourceForge tickets, forum reports or tasks that should be considered for this release, please reply with the link and a short explanation of why it should be prioritized.

I cannot promise that every item will make it into the next release, especially if it requires large or risky changes, but I would like to review the most important SourceForge-reported issues before finalizing the 1.26.x update.

Thank you for your continued help.
