  • Great software with great community! The "Tribe" as they call it is providing a lot of information to get started with the platform as well as contributing very useful add-ons in case you need more than what it offers out-of-the-box, which is already a lot.

  • Training and tutoring in analyzing publically available microarray data for almost blind student needed. I am a legally blind bioinformatics student and I need assistance in learning how to analyze the microarray data to compensate for my vision loss. A little bit about the content of my project: I am especially interested in finding out why caloric restriction (CR) in yeast reduces lifespan in atg15 and erg6 yeast knockout mutants but extends lifespan in the wild type. These 2 genes must therefore be involved in longevity pathways activated by caloric restriction. Erg6 and atg15 knockouts not only become dysfunctional in the knockout mutant, which would be the case if caloric restriction would no longer extend lifespan, but the lifespan of atg15 and erg6 knockout mutants is even shorter in CR than in YEPD (normal medium). I would like help in finding an explanation for this phenomenon. A condition (i.e. CR), which is good for the wild type (WT), is bad for the erg6 and arg15 mutant. In YEPD (normal medium) the yeast seems to be able to better compensate for those loss of function mutations than during CR. The question is to find out what erg6 and atg15 do in the yeast during YEPD and CR and which other genes are differentially expressed with them. Job requirements: Since I am legally blind and only have a very limited visual field because I need very high magnification, I need my tutor to work with me remotely via Team Viewer and Skype in order to go with me through each and every step of this analysis until I can do everything independently on my own. If you have any suggestions how I could approach this problem or if you are interested in working with me on solving this problem and thus helping me to achieve my dream of earning a PhD despite being legally blind, I would love to share with you more preliminary data and discuss more details about this project. P.S. Could you please contact me directly either via email, Skype or cell phone because that would make it much easier and faster for me to respond than through this website because my text to speech software cannot read it properly Best, Thomas Hahn Email: Thomas.F.Hahn2@gmail.com Skype ID: tfh002 Cell phone: 318 243 3940

  • This is a modern collaboration platform built around a social layer. The modules are well-thought-out and well-built. The features are comprehensive: if it really matters in a collaborative platform, it's there. I would love to see these continue to grow, and why not add more to the list. My personal suggestion is a specialized Project Management feature (I know you guys are listening!). Design is spot on. This is an example of modern UX done right. Intuitive without compromising functionality – a major forte for this solution. In my experience, once you start using it, it keeps you coming back everyday with its somewhat addictive facebook-type effect. So you have the peace of mind that this is not something which will eventually sit forgotten in the back of the office once deployed. You know your users will be hooked, and that is always good for productivity. I love owning software that I can control when needed. I'm not a big fan of rigid solutions with limited to non-existing horizons for extensibility. Interoperability and respect for the organisation's choice and specific needs, whether current or potential future needs, are strongly present in this solution. (Although I am almost sure Enterprise-grade projects will require more than the company's open source project both in this respect and others, but that is not the point.) Don't get me wrong though. This is by no means a bug-full piece of software rebellion screaming compatibility issues. The opposite proves true actually, it maintains firm compliance with standards. All in all, this is really proving to be a modern and mature piece of software in my experience and I see serious promise for it. My favorite alternative to rigid and cash-hungry giants which shall not named here. Great job eXo community. Count me in!
