"Good product" Posted 2023-06-01
Pros: Wow, I must say that this product has exceeded my expectations in every way possible. From the moment I started using it, I was blown away by its impeccable quality. It's clear that a lot of attention has been given to its construction, as it feels solid and well-made. I couldn't find any flaws or defects, which is a testament to its excellent craftsmanship.
When it comes to performance, this product truly shines. It effortlessly delivers on its promises and consistently delivers outstanding results. Whether I'm using it for work or leisure, it never fails to impress me with its efficiency and effectiveness. The features it offers are simply remarkable. I'm particularly impressed by the innovative technology incorporated into its design, which enhances its overall functionality and usability.
Speaking of design, this product is a visual delight. Its sleek and modern appearance adds a touch of sophistication, making it a pleasure to use and display. The attention to detail is evident, from the carefully chosen color palette to the intuitive user interface. It's clear that the designers have put a lot of thought into creating a product that not only performs exceptionally but also looks fantastic.
Durability is another aspect that sets this product apart. I've put it through its paces, and it has effortlessly withstood the test of time. It's built to last, and I have no doubt that it will continue to serve me well for years to come.
One of the things I appreciate most about this product is its user-friendliness. Setting it up was a breeze, and the intuitive controls make it incredibly easy to operate. I didn't have to spend hours reading manuals or watching tutorials; it's straightforward and intuitive right out of the box.
Considering all the amazing features and the exceptional performance, I must say that this product offers tremendous value for money. It's worth every penny, and I can confidently say that it has become an indispensable part of my daily life.
Lastly, I'm not alone in my admiration for this product. The positive feedback from other users and the glowing reviews it has received further validate its excellence. It's clear that this product has made a positive impact on many people's lives.

It's a game-changer, and I highly recommend it to anyone in need of a reliable, high-quality, and feature-packed solution.Cons: Well, where do I start with this product's cons? Let's just say it has a sense of humor—unfortunately, not intentionally. First off, it seems to have a mind of its own. It enjoys randomly deciding to take breaks or go on vacation when you need it the most. It's like having a rebellious teenager trapped inside a machine!
Secondly, this product has a knack for hiding in plain sight. It's like it mastered the art of camouflage. Every time I need it, it magically disappears into thin air, leaving me scratching my head and wondering if I'm being pranked by an invisible gnome.
Oh, and did I mention its uncanny ability to attract dust and crumbs? It's like it has a magnetic field that only attracts the tiniest particles in the universe. So, not only do you get a product, but you also get an impromptu dust and crumb collector. Who wouldn't want that?
And let's not forget the excitement it brings with its surprise sound effects. You'll never know when it'll decide to emit a loud, perplexing noise that startles not only you but your neighbors, pets, and probably a few birds outside. It's like having a personal sound effects machine that only knows one setting: maximum volume.
But hey, at least this product keeps you on your toes. It adds an element of surprise and adventure to your daily life. You never know what it's going to do next. It's like living with a mischievous, eccentric roommate who always keeps you guessing.
So, if you're up for an unpredictable, disappearing, crumb-loving, noise-making companion, this product might just be the one for you. Just be prepared for a wild and wacky ride!Overall: I recently had the opportunity to try out this product, and I have to say, it provided a good experience overall. While I would love to dive into the specifics, there isn't much I can elaborate on. Let me explain what stood out to me.

"I'm Entering a Giveaway - but I Truly love TrueNAS" Posted 2023-06-01
Pros: For a home user - it has free open versions. I have just moved to TrueNAS Scale for the improved virtualization as I use TrueNAS first as a NAS and secondly as a VM host.
Cons: It has a learning curve - but is well worth it. I could have purchased a Synology NAS, but then I have noticed they have had security issues.
Overall: I would recommend anyone who wants/needs a home NAS to first give TrueNAS a try. I love it and have used it for many years.

"Awesome product and great service from iXsystems" Posted 2023-06-01
Pros: Stability and versatility and moving to scale will make it even better! Also I love the development path and the ability to scale out in the future.
Cons: All the cons that I had for TrueNAS will be fixed in scale. Moving to kvm for virtualization and inclusion of helm for containers.
Overall: I have had very few reasons for support but when it was needed the support was great! Looking forward to when we can use AD for logging into the web interface.

"In a world of storage choices, one platform keeps me happy" Posted 2023-06-01
Pros: Rock solid implementation of just about any storage protocol you want. Complete flexibility with disk/pool options as well. Grow a pool/array, simple replication to offsite storage vendors or other TrueNAS boxes. The pricing is also awesome!
Cons: So far, I don't really have anything negative to say. I've been using the product for a very long time and if I could complain about anything, it would probably be that on occasion I have to watch one of the numerous youtube videos they have when it comes to configuring something. I suppose that's not really a negative so much as it is a positive as it concerns to their documentation and videos showing how things work, but whatever ;)
Overall: There is a reason its my preferred storage. I've used Compellent, EMC, Pure, VSAN, Promise and others, but TrueNAS is my go to solution for storing data.

Pros: Aside from storage and onsite backup it has enabled me to experiment with my own virtualized cloud/lab, it is great fun has is surprisingly stable!
Cons: It makes me want to spend a lot more money on server grade hardware to do more virtualization.
Overall: Great, I've been using it for approx 8 years and my needs have evolved because of capabilities, initially for NAD only I now extensively use its virtualization with bhyve capabilities to run BSD and GNU/Linux flavors for testing/labs and experimentation.

"Great for home and business. " Posted 2023-06-01
Pros: I love that TrueNAS is free.
Big fan of their quick support on the enterprise side. even thought we operate the smaller systems.
I've effectively cut down my microsoft licensing by operating smb shares on our system at work. No need for a file server running expensive MS licensing.
The Bluefin / Scale version allows for many apps / dockers to setup with relative ease.Cons: Core runs on BSD that's fine but its irritating that they cannot copy to usb 3.0 devices.
Scale can, but cannot be fully supported with enterprise support so we are stuck with the enterprise version.
This isn't a concern for the average customer using TrueNAS Scale though.Overall: They have become a very powerful alternative to other companies who charge a mint for their software not so much the hardware.

"TrueNAS is great DIY NAS solution" Posted 2023-06-01
Pros: Both of the TrueNAS products (CORE and SCALE) are easy enough to use to stand up your own NAS at home and get it using. Its management interface is easy enough to use.
Cons: TrueNAS is an appliance OS and it's understandable, but still frustrating, when you try and push beyond the boundaries of what can be done.
TrueNAS SCALE's containers implementation seems restrictive and frustrating compared to other products. Both TrueNAS CORE and SCALE's virtualization are quite basic.Overall: I've been using TrueNAS (fka FreeNAS) for over a decade. I am quite happy with it and constantly recommend it to others.

"Best NAS Software to date." Posted 2023-06-01
Pros: The Ease of use is phenomenal.
The ZFS file system is really starting to become superior to other file systems, the speed at which you can operate your drive is outstanding.
Easy Deployment.
User management is incredibly easy when compared to competing NAS Software solutions.
TrueCommand (Another Application they have) allows for easy management of multiple systems.
FreeBSD and Linux versions.Cons: ZFS - ZFS is awesome, but due to them having to use ZFS, if you want to expand your storage after you've been using one for a while, you have to create a whole new dataset, you can't expand your dataset YET. The devs of ZFS claim it is coming, we just don't know when.
Overall: My experience with TrueNAS has been outstanding, I only operate my NAS machines with this software now, as it is incredibly easy to manage multiple systems with this software.

Pros: Even the free version is still highly customisable and fulfil the latest requirements. Most of the advanced features are available and easy to setup.
Cons: Some setup (access control) need more research and additional knowledge.
SSH terminal has limited functions.Overall: I'm using this system quite a while on my home-built NAS running on a Proxmox VM and I haven't encountered any issues so far.

"Loving it" Posted 2023-06-01
Pros: Everything I need, simple to setup and complex enough to fine tune.
The GUI is easy to go around but it could be improved a little bit.Cons: Not supposed to be ran on a USB key but that's a small down for a big up.
Overall: I would chose TrueNAS 9 times out of 10 else if I have a QNAP of more than 4 bays. I would also love to see a better monitoring for the temperature.
