Free and Open Source AI Image Upscaler for Linux, MacOS and Windows
Free and Open Source AI Image Upscaler for Linux, MacOS and Windows built with Linux-First philosophy. Upscayl is a cross-platform application built with the Linux-first philosophy. This means that we prioritize Linux builds over others but that doesn't mean we'll break things for other OSes. Upscayl does not work without a GPU, sorry. You'll need a Vulkan-compatible GPU to upscale images. CPU or iGPU won't work. You can also download the flatpak version and double-click the flatpak file to install via Store but wait for the full release, we'll be pushing it to Flathub for easy access. Upscayl uses AI models to enhance your images by guessing what the details could be. It uses Real-ESRGAN (and more in the future) model to achieve this. The CLI tool is called real-esrgan-ncnn-vulkan and it's available on the Real-ESRGAN repository. -

GIMP ML
AI for GNU Image Manipulation Program
This repository introduces GIMP3-ML, a set of Python plugins for the widely popular GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP). It enables the use of recent advances in computer vision to the conventional image editing pipeline. Applications from deep learning such as monocular depth estimation, semantic segmentation, mask generative adversarial networks, image super-resolution, de-noising and coloring have been incorporated with GIMP through Python-based plugins. Additionally, operations on images such as edge detection and color clustering have also been added. GIMP-ML relies on standard Python packages such as numpy, scikit-image, pillow, pytorch, open-cv, scipy. In addition, GIMP-ML also aims to bring the benefits of using deep learning networks used for computer vision tasks to routine image processing workflows. -

Main idea here is that you can use Nik Plugins stand-alone without officially supported 3rd party host application (Lightroom, Photoshop, Spark, Portfolio). On Windows or Linux. Source code can be compiled natively for Linux or for Windows with Lazarus IDE. The program is dedicated to Ubuntu users, where you can install Nik Collection using wine. On Ubuntu you can either use native Linux version, or native Windows version running via wine. In fact, currently the latter is recommended, because there are some UI glitches related to gtk widgetset if you compile for Linux - the UI looks better in native Windows version (this can be fixed in the future). Even if you use native Windows version on Linux via wine, the app will be aware of wine and will still be integrated with your Ubuntu desktop and will be integrated with supported apps on it, like Gimp, Pinta, Darktable, Nautilus, etc. It will still talk to your shell, and provide all the integration with your Linux. -

Although designed for 10 year old and newer 64-bit computers that are unable to upgrade to windows 11, it excels on newer systems. It works great on multi-monitor and ultra wide screen monitor setups. Orchid Studio can be run live from a USB drive, however is intended to be installed on a solid state drive or hard drive. Orchid Studio is designed as a single user setup where the “admin” user does not require passwords for updates, installing software, and performing most administrative tasks. Other users will require passwords to be used for these functions. Passwords: root and admin initial passwords are “admin”, if you are security conscious you should change them.

The Simple xbm Image Editor presents a Tkinter GUI and has the following functions: - Create new .xbm image files and update existing files - Images are displayed in actual size and in an enlarged grid suitable for editing - Toggle the bits of the image edit grid to foreground/background with mouse clicks - Increase or decrease the width and/or height of an image - Rotate an image - Shift an image up, down, left or right - Change the colors in which an image is displayed, although colors are not stored in .xbm files. Background and foreground color selection is provided in order to experiment with colors for your application. The editor can display very large .xbm files in their actual size but the maximum bitmap size that can be edited is 2500 pixels. This limit is arbitrary and can easily be changed, but bitmap edit grid loading and, in particular, garbage collection become quite slow if the limit is a lot more than 2500 pixels. The gridMax constant sets max size. -
